Google providing search results before you complete search query

Long back Google proposed the idea of providing search results before any one completes their query and infact, the idea is now implemented what it is called 'contextual discovery'. The assumption revolves around the idea of being able to look at either a person's browsing profile or their location profile and serving up interesting data to them without them searching for anything.

Marissa Mayer, Vice President of Location Services at Google said "The idea is to push information to people", "its location in context. Inside the browser and a toolbar, we can look at where people have been going on the Web - then we deliver it. But it's a big UI challenge."

Google provides information based on a user's location on mobile phone while on PC, the search results would pop up in a panel on the browser complementing the user's own Web browsing. "We can figure out where the next most useful information is. In a restaurant, maybe it's a menu. Or maybe it's a social menu. It's about explicit and implicit location," she said.

The search is being done by taking users location as a piece of context for finding what they want without them actually searching for anything.

Mayer's explanations should be read alone with Google CEO Eric Schmidt's remarks at the TechCrunch Disrupt Conference in San Francisco in September where he said at some point in the future, Google's search technology will be autonomous. He had anticipated about the technology being able to offer users search results even before they've looked for them.

Free AK 47 on Purchase of Truck!

This is happening in Central Florida. A dealer trying to drum up business is offering an extraordinary perk for potential used-truck buyers, yes a free AK-47 assault rifle.

The General sales manager says that since the promotion was announced on Veterans Day, businesses have boomed more than double at Nations Trucks in Sanford.

For getting the free gift worth $400, customers need to have to pass a background check before using the gun shop voucher. They also have the option of using the money toward other firearms, or they can request a check in that amount instead.

The dealership has fielded some complaints about the deal, which the sales manager acknowledges is controversial. The promotion runs through the end of November.

How to change residence address/location for a Patent Agent in Patent Agent Registry

What one has to do in case if a Patent Agent wished to change his/her address to different location? The best procedure is to write a request for a change of address / location to the Patent Office. I heared from the other source that persons who wants to change their address / location need to write application in A4 to the Controller requesting to change the address in the register of patent agents. Also, a demand draft worth of Rs. 200/= should be added with your application. But, as per Indian Patent Act there has no such references to change address.

It will be good, if the Patent Office brings an online solution for change of address option for Indian Patent Agents.

Will the Sub-Registrar say Barak-Allah?

Nikahs ie marriages in a typical Muslim society in Tamil Nadu has always been more than a ritual. The ambience, the spectacle, the revered silence maintained by the huge gatherings in the Mosques, the recital of the quranic verses etc. etc make the wedding experience unique and unforgettable.

When the Imam or Qazi asks the bride-groom 'Kya Aapne Qubool kya?' the bride-groom mutters his consent and signs in the register in the Mosque itself. It is the most defining moment of one's life. That is the moment when you take a new entrant in your life as your life-mate and soul-mate for the rest of your life.

In fact, ask any Muslim, he will remember distinctly his moment- the moment when he uttered those words : "Haan Main ne qabool kya"

Everything is passé now.

A new law promulgated by the Tamil Nadu Government is all set to rob away the niceties of the ceremony. Instead of pious, heavenly Imam Sahib of your Mosque you may have to answer the queries of a government servant, in this case Sub-registrar. Compare the ambience of the Mosque with that of a government building.

The Tamil Nadu Government has come out with a new law Registration of Marriages Act 2009 of Tamil Nadu. It has been enforced in Tamil Nadu from 24th November, 2009. The intention of the government is laudable. But, the Muslim community is perplexed. While on one hand it views and perceives the DMK Government as friendly one. On the other hand doubts are being raised over certain provisions of the aforesaid law. There is also fear of Uniform civil code looming large over the community.

It should be noted that there is time-tested, successful, and age old tradition of registering each and every marriages solemnized in the Mosques in vogue in Tamil Nadu.

Amidst this scenario, a large number of Muslim Ulema, Muthawallis and social activists, in a joint meeting held at Vellore on January 14, rejected the newly enacted Registration of Marriages Act 2009 of Tamil Nadu. V. M. Khaleelur Rahman, a freelance journalist and blogger has given a detailed report of this meeting in his blog. Excerpts from his report: Click here
