Honest and greedy, but it is a matter of policy!

After finishing my office tasks, I was commuting to my room by regular local train. That day I noticed that the train had additional cars making the train size lengthier than the platform. The last two cars will stop behind end of the platform. I noticed a man struggling to crawl from the last car and was heading towards my car which was ahead of last two cars. It was little dark and I landed inside my car not seeing what that person was doing. The train moved a little further and stopped to put the last two cars to the platform.

I saw the man from the window seat struggling to look for entry to get in the train and he managed to get inside before the train moved from that station. I saw him; he was blind wearing a dirty cloth and selling wrapped toffees.

I felt very bad about him struggling a lot to sell the toffees with his visual disability. I was deeply touched with his struggle to get into my car and arranging his toffee bags and his guide stick. I thought for a while to how to help him to give little comfort to him. He was moving from my last seat to the opposite side and saying "buy toffee for Re. 5".

Still, I was wondering what to do help him by the way he was turning towards the back side where my seat is located. He again approached my side that moment I decided to help him with some money. I offered him 50 bucks to keep with him saying no to toffee. He replied very politely, sir, I don't accept this…..sir I sell toffee….if you're interested you can have toffee or you take back your money.

His polite reply made me to think what I or others would have done if we happened to be in his position with disabilities. Really, he was not begging for money but was selling his product with lot of struggle and hardship to earn a small amount and everybody know very few people will buy while they are commuting a short distance.

He was very honest and attached to his principle not to beg or get moneys from others. If everybody have good principles, we would have a far better standards of life than those who always admire other countries having corrupt minds. Hope, this makes sense to people not to eye on others money while everyone have sufficient resource to survive their living. Really, this poor blind man's soft action worth a moral value for greedy people who grab others money for their living……especially the government servants!

Usman IV blessed to us in the great month of Zil Hajja 1431

I'm happy to share my joyous moment with my fellow bloggers and friends that I'm blessed with a baby boy. He was born on November 20, 2009 at my native Apollo KH Hospital. My whole of the family expected a male child to be born and his name should be my dad's name. Allhamdulillah, Allah S/t answered all our prayers and wishes and blessed us a baby boy.

As decided, he will be called Muhammad Usman, the fourth of our Malack family. Still, I didn't see him and it will take me another 3 weeks to make exit from the lovely Dearborn. Heared that he looks exactly like me…..alas….I should have seen him the day he was born! ….and it will be too late to see him when I will be back in town in the mid of December 2010.

As a proud first time dad, I pray and wish a very pious and peaceful life to the first male child of our next generation…..loving you son! May allah be pleased with him and expect all my well wishers and fellow bloggers to wish my little heart.

What americans mostly search on internet?

A search a day keeps the doctor away is the latest theme for Americans who are most concerned about health information. Rather then turning to doctors, searching on internet is the best way to get tips about health information.

Mostly people do internet searches on the academic or research side to dig information for their work, or mostly people will be searching to get online services like banking, travel information, information about cities, boarding / lodging, etc. All these are need based searches and the latest is the addicted searches to get information about health.

A recent report from ask.com conducted by Harris Interactive states that 70 percent of adults rely on on-line search engine on internet as a primary source for medical and health information. The internet revolution has made it possible to attract the people seeking required information with great ease. It has surpassed the television / newspaper or other media in giving the information.

A lot of online services have been started to cater the queries of individuals for providing tips / treatment for a broad range of health topics, like diseases, symptoms, medical options, treatments, medications. A person with no knowledge can understood from the online search of his query with basic definition of the term of what he / she is searching. Using the internet as tool, it is possible to understand and identify the disease and take necessary treatment / consultations with doctors.

Out of 100 percent, 70 percent of the searches made by American people are health related issues than any research / academic / other general information queries.

How to make pocket money for students?

There are lots of techniques for students to help themselves to pay their education expanses. One may get scholarship; other may work as a part time employee. Students who have excellent skills in their core areas may develop their own income by doing services like website developments, developing simple accounting softwares, etc.

What about other students who do not have the ability to make themselves in the above positions. They are aspirant to complete their education and they may be just beginners for developing their core skills. On the other hand, they may need to help themselves to make pocket money: either to pay their tuition fees or to meet the expenses to manage their student life.

So, what is the other easiest way to make a small earning to support themselves? My personal idea is to exploit their resources available to them with their natural skills. Everyone knows that there is potential income and knowledge to work and share on internet and the idea is to use the same to earn something.

Example: One may be a good writer, he / she may put their ideas in a blog and earn from publishing networks like adsense, etc. Students who are not skilled to write their own may submit music / videos / articles, etc to forums or social networks like youtaz, etc. Other bonus information is that much of the network gives referral programmes, one can ripe a huge income.

Being a student, it is always better to spend a small time a day for this kind of job which pays more else, it may spoil the purpose of a student to be deviated from his studies.

If anyone comes across any site which pays for a small contribution, please put the like, of course your referral link also for the benefits of students.

Best service to the best satisfaction to their customers!

World have changed a lot with lot of electronic gadgets which has become very essential part of our daily activities. Running between home and office, friends to virtual networks of the unseen, it brings or helps to be in touch with all. I’m talking of the basic requirements like mobile phones, flash drives, etc.

I used to have BenQ M300 mobile phone, gifted by my brother. It was my first mobile handset and used to handle with utmost care. After a long use, it got problems and I tried with the local shop as BenQ services are not available around my native. I got the idea to seek help from BenQ and wrote mail to their Gurgoan Office.

I got a kind and prompt response and the whole process was handled very smoothly. Anyhow, due to unfavorable atmosphere (Mumbai attacks) of that time my phone was returned by the Postal Service for not reaching the destination. My sincere thanks to Ms. Sandhya Pratap Singh, BenQ India, for smoothly handling almost some 30 mail/phone queries.

This made a second thought for my flash drive. My 4GB iball flash drive was not working and it always says there is no disk when inserted to my computer. Since, I had purchased it in Bangalore, I wanted to dump it rather than going to that electronic shop for getting it repaired. The services of Ms. Sandhay made me to think again to locate iball site and from there I got Chennai service centre which is near to my native.

I contacted with the mail and heared response from Mr. Suryakant Dokania, iBall-Chennai. The response was We are very sorry for the problem in our product. You can bring the defective product to our service centre & we will do the needful here. The address is as below”. The process took just a few mail queries to get my pen drive in working condition. He saved me from dumping my pen drive, else it would have cost me another 750 bucks.

Mr. Suryakant Dokania and Ms. Sandhya Pratap Singh is really a person to understand the needs of the customers who are unable to explain their technical problems for which they are facing with products. Hope, their service continues to others who have never come across to understand how to make their gadgets work rather than making e-hazards. Also, really then name BenQ, iball works, that’s why it is called brands! My favorite brands!!

What kind of education to be planned for successful career?

Now everybody whether educated or uneducated is aware of the term recession. Many of those who were doing self-business have joined industry or hunting for jobs and those who worked in industry are out of jobs and planning for self-business. Things have changed fast and employed or unemployed take decisions in a jiffy.

I have a question in my mind…….which is the most aspired job. To an American it may be a doctor or a lawyer and to us native Indian it is the idea which drives him for a successful career. Here, it is not the matter of aspiration………it is how life takes us with time. We plan a lot about our career with a strong education to become a successful scientist / doctor / research engineer and after a period of time we found in other service industries.

Now the question is what is the need to get that high end education with a lot of money spending on it when we find in the opposite position in the industry. To be continued…….

Don't worry!!! He is on bench...

Goat: Don't worry!!! He is on BENCH

With recession, the world has changed a lot. A common man still remains the same for his need of commodities where as a spendthrift has become more than a miser. It is not a matter of individual now……it is about corporates.

There is a huge cost-cutting plan implemented in much of the corporates where peoples have become jobless or in job but without work. The situation is changed now, previously the senior officers will grill the junior employees to work or make them to sit in BENCH with no work. As of now, with this current scenario, the senior remains in BENCH with junior officer in cool by moving in and around.

Haj Subsidy, Anyone?

Google the words Haj Subsidy and the top three results are from the rabid right wing Muslim-bashers. All the first 30 results are related to India and that means it is a big issue for Indian and Indians.

Since, the Haj pilgrimage has just concluded, it is the right time to ask this question, are we really getting a Haj subsidy?

First, let us analyze what exactly this so-called Haj subsidy entails. An Indian Muslim, who chooses to go to Haj through government run Haj committees, gets a subsidy of around Rs. 20,000 on their Air India ticket of Rs. 32,000. That is it ! The minimum cost of a Haj package through the Haj committees is around Rs. 92,000, of which Rs. 20,000 is paid by the Indian government to Air India as a subsidy on the Hajis ticket. The total Haj airline ticket subsidy was around Rs. 150 crore for the year 2001 and has been enmarked to Rs. 225 crores for the year 2005. It is interesting to note that the normal ticket to Saudi Arabia costs around Rs. 25,000 but Air India charges Rs. 34,000 from the Hajis. So, effectively the government is giving a subsidy of Rs. 12,000 only!

The Sangh Parivar zealots make is sound like that the Indian government sponsors an Annual-Go-To-Haj trip for anyone who is interested. Why this is such a big issue for them? I don’t think the amount involved (Rs. 225 crores) is the itching factor. They are more piqued at the fact that it allows Muslims to go to Mecca and Medina, their holy cities which are outside India, out there is some land called Arabia. The usual argument of these fanatics is that India and India alone should be the pitrabhuumi (fatherland) and punyabhuumi (holyland) of all Indians and since the holy places of Muslims and Christians are elsewhere, they can never be patriotic enough. This argument would have been plain ridiculous had it not been so malevolent. So, what they are trying to say is that a Hindu born and brought up in USA can not be patriotic enough to USA, if he chooses to visit the Somnath mandir in India as a pilgrim. A Swede, who converts to Hinduism, can not be loyal to Sweden if he scouts Mathura and Varanasi in search of spiritual salvation. The patriotism of all Sikhs who visit Nankana sahab in Pakistan is somehow suspect and all Hindus who undergo the arduous Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage can not be termed Indians anymore because that site is under Chinese dominion. Welcome to Ram Rajya 2.0, as espoused by a few hate mongers. But then, these gentlemen hardly talk or understand a five lettered word, ’sense’. We would let them go for the time being.

Coming back to the Haj subsidy, Haj is obligatory only on those who are physically and financially capable of performing the journey. So, all the expenses should be incurred by the Hajis himself and the government should not pay any part of that. Fair enough. But is the government actually providing any financial support to the Hajis? I don’t think so. The government is only subsidizing their air tickets because the airlines they are travelling with belongs to the government. In other words it is a discount on an overpriced product. There are many companies that provide discounts to their regular users. What we fail to appreciate is that these Hajis are providing atleast 84 crores as revenue to Air India per year, year after year for the pathetic service they receive in return. Is it merely a rumour that the worst Air India carriers are employed by Air India for the Haj travel? Last year, on its way back, one of the Air India plane broke down. It has to be grounded in Sharjah for a full night. The Hajis were told that they would have to spend the entire night in the plane. Customers service anyone? After protests from the passengers, Air India finally relented and issued boarding passes to the passengers. Which travelers in his right mind would prefer travelling with Air India with so many airlines providing world-class service at competitive rates, nowadays?

More than 1,20,000 Indians went for Haj in the year 2001. That is a big big number and that too within a specific time schedule. Out of these, around 50,000 chose to go with private tour operators. Why? Because there are many private tour operators that offer Haj packages for as low as Rs. 68,000, without any government subsidy (yes, the government gives subsidy only on the Air India ticket, not to the Hajis per se). What does that tells us? Let me make a guess, these tour operators are more efficient?

So, the government of India, in order to cover for their awful management of Air India, to hold on to a constant (and unquestioning) source of revenue (year, after year) want Indian Muslims to believe that it is doing a lot of favour by doling out some subsidy on an overpriced air ticket. That too for its own vote bank politics. Come on!

The consecutive governments in India have only used symbolism in the name of minority policies. Instead of focusing on the real issues, as to why Indian Muslims are at the bottom of the social rung, why the literacy rate of Muslims is the lowest, what are the reasons that Muslims fail to enroll their kids for school, what can be done to utilize the tremendous skills of business and entrepreneurship, all we are given is a pathetic subsidy on an overpriced airline ticket and that too, mainly for its own good. Symbolism sells, in India, it sells big. The fact that it also gives an issue to perennial Muslim-haters like Togadia, Singhal and Giriraj Kishore, is of no concern to it. Afterall, when these people bark, and occasionally bite, which way the terrified Muslim would turn to? Is it just a co-incidence or a well though strategy, that the BJP led government did not abolish the Haj subsidy in its 6 years of power because that would deprive its core Muslim-bashing constituency one of the favorite issues? Even Muslim leaders such as Syed Shahabuddin (not that Siwan hoodlum, but the ex-diplomat) have been demanding for 20 years that the Indian government should do away with the so-called Haj subsidy. He also claims that no Muslim leader ever asked for it.

The bottom-line is this, Indian Muslims should reject the subsidized Air India ticket, if not for anything else then for common sense only. Once the Haj market opens and this forced monopoly of Air India goes, I would not be surprised if other airlines start offering discounts to the Hajis. Afterall, which company wouldn’t want to tap in an yearly market in excess of Rs. 350 crores, and that too, just for the airfare.

The traditional dignity!

I’m not supposed to comment on this, but some times I’m inclined to our Indian tradition or gup-shups. It is not good to talk about a woman in public or media but my point of view is different. It is about the 81st Oscar Academy award in which A.R. Rahman became the darling of the world, not only creating history of India but stunned the entire world by bagging two Oscars at a go - a feat repeated by no other on the same day.

That’s good to greet him on his achievement apart from my personal religious back ground. On the other hand, comes the above discussion about the lady none other than Mr.s Saira Rahman. I never came across or seen her even in photos or magazines before this awards and normally she avoids to come in public……..the eye catching point is that her simple traditional dress in the glamorous western world which had won the attention of millions of heart and people like me being a muslim admire her of wearing her dupatta on her head. I see a lot of Indian celebrities in general and muslim business women or muslim celebrities particularly go glamour by neglecting our traditional values. May be; let’s see Saira be the eye opener to our celebs who wear western attire while going on western stage.

What others said….

Well done saira, your one of those people who are not ashamed of there culture and there clothes! Well done a.r rahman! By jo jo

I am so happy that someone stayed in with there traditions and culture. I am very proud of SDM but Freido could have won an amazing from a Indian designer who could have made an unbelievable outfit for her to walk down the red carpet in. I am very proud that Saira wore her own traditional eastern outfit. Which is so beautiful.

It is in these times of temptations, one discovers the true “U”.Thanks saira for sticking to your roots. It takes great courage and strong personality to overcome temptation that the worldly things draws u into.Dont forget guys it is what we are that has bought us here, its is our own nach- gana type of movie that a briton made, obviously out of his choice that got us oscars .We stuck to our pattern of movie making and see that paid off.”DONT CHANGE ACCORDING TO THE WORLD, LET THE WORLD CHANGE ACCORDING TO U”…Aparna.J

Great couple, Saira and Rehman, thank you for representing India and Indian Muslims in such traditional dress. May Allah bless you with success…..by Rauf

Saira Rahman

We are proud of you being a true Indian woman. People who forget their culture, mother language, and soil where they are born… are just commodity nothing more than that. Other indian celebrities…/Hindi actor/Hindi actress should learn something who feel shame by speaking hindi or wearing Indian dresses. But they earn their money from Hindi films. Personality comes from somebody’s ideas, confidence, knowledge not by showing nudity.

Great Mrs Saira Rahman….
